Initiated during John Ashton’s presidency in 1991 the Wollundry Rotary Club of Wagga Wagga offers a prestigious scholarship through the CSU Foundation to support local science students committed to rural careers.

Scholarships
Scholarship Overview
Partcipients are invited to connect with the Club each year to provide study updates and attend a Club meeting
Eligibility
- Continuing students in any undergraduate degree within the Faculty of Science at the Wagga Wagga Campus
- Residents of the Wagga Wagga District prior to commencing the course
Award Value
$15,000 payable over up to three years (pro-rata if less), subject to satisfactory academic progress
Selection Criteria
- Outline any course work integrated learning (WIL) requirements
- Demonstrate a desire to live and work in rural areas
- Explain how your ideals align with the objectives and initiatives of the Rotary Club of Wollundry
Selection Process
- Preference may be given to applicants undertaking courses with significant WIL
- Applications are assessed by CSU staff, with a shortlist forwarded to the Club for the final decision and interview (via Zoom)
- Scholarships are awarded at CSU Foundation Trust Ceremonies

History of Charles Sturt University Scholarship

Initiated during John Ashton’s presidency, the scholarship was established following a proposal by the then District Governor to create a Rotary Scholarship for Science. The Wollundry Board embraced the idea, leading to the creation of a scholarship aimed at deserving applicants from the Wagga Wagga District who intend to remain in the country upon graduation. Over time, “deserving” has come to signify individuals who require financial assistance and can maintain high academic standards. Past recipients have achieved outstanding results in both their studies and postgraduate work, enhancing the scholarship’s prestige.
